Rocket Blast-Off Mission

Rocket Blast-Off Mission: Become an Aerospace Engineer!

Prepare for countdown at Mission Control! In this high-octane lab, students transition from chemistry to Aerospace Engineering as they build a chemical engine and defy gravity. Cadets will learn to harness the power of gas pressure to launch their very own projectile high into the sky, experiencing the thrills of NASA-style rocket science right at home.

What Your Scientist Will Do:

  • Build a Chemical Engine: Combine citric acid and sodium bicarbonate to create the powerful "fuel" needed for flight.
  • Master the Perfect Launch: Practice the high-speed snap-and-flip technique required to seal the rocket and initiate the countdown.
  • Mission Control Protocols: Follow strict safety protocols, including "Goggles ON" and proper launch-pad positioning for a successful mission.
  • Conduct Flight Trials: Experiment with different water levels to see how weight affects altitudeβ€”just like real rocket scientists.

Real Science Learnings:

  • Newton’s Third Law of Motion: Experience "Action and Reaction" firsthand as gas pushing down forces the rocket to shoot up.
  • Energy Conversion: See the magic of science as chemical energy (the fizzing reaction) is transformed into kinetic energy (the blast-off).
  • Aerospace Troubleshooting: Learn how to analyze a "failed" launch by checking seals and pressure leaks, developing critical problem-solving skills.
  • Gas Pressure Dynamics: Discover how carbon dioxide builds up inside a sealed chamber until the force becomes too great to contain.

Ready for liftoff? The Rocket Blast-Off Mission is a highlight of our curriculum. Whether you choose our 5-course ($199), 10-course ($299), or 15-course ($399) package, your student will have everything they need to aim for the stars.
